Life Well Seen – A Poem
You ever walk up a flight of concrete stairs
and wonder who poured the cement?
How long until it starts to crack?
And how many winters it can survive
until the cement needs to be ripped out
and new steps need to be created?

I decided to submit poetry again and I turned toward Spillwords Press, NYC, whom have treated me excellently for a number of years. Cheers everyone!
Matt
I’m gearing up to submit to a large publication.
It’s nerve racking.
I’m guessing
anyone who has done this,
has experienced some range of emotions.
Is the content correct for the publication?
Is my work good enough?
Am I?
Shit. They want a cover letter.
not just a simple bio
they even want a list of
where I’ve been published
Make more coffee.
Sit, relax, drink too much coffee.
Time drips on
and somehow a few days too
And I keep picking more important
items to complete
I hate when I lie to myself

ps, Wish me luck.
I didn’t want to put the book down.
I didn’t expect that. But, that’s what happened. Z Publishing House editors selected 15 authors from the East Region and delivered, what I consider to be, a great read for the summer of 2019.
This book contains thrilling short stories ranging from haunted houses, spiritual haunting, Military spook, blood and brains, a dose of arachnophobia, and let’s not leave out the random split personality piece for a bit of spice.
I’m honored to have my short story, Only. Just. Here. within the pages of this book. If you are looking for a good summer read, this is it. Feel free to email me if you are interested in more information.

I look at the physical copies and smile.
It’s not easy to gain traction in the industry of writing.
It just isn’t.
There are thousands of writers in different countries
that are incredible and the world will never know.
So, for me to have gained at least this amount of traction,
I am pleased. I am not done though. There is much to do.
I’ll keep being comfortably me. And I’ll continue to smile
at the two books.

Here’s half of the Woah!! News:
My 5,000 word short story, Screaming Hills, has been published by, Z Publishing House, in their America’s Emerging Literary Fiction Writers: Northeast Region, 2019. This is a continuation of the first chapter, which was originally published by Z Publishing House in 2018. This short story is about the reality of every day life and struggles of small town America. Especially the mill town regions of the North East. The story is fiction, but may feel like non-fiction as it contains content concerning drug use, alcohol abuse, depression and anxiety; along with the failed economic structures of these towns. However, the story also drives toward hope and determination to succeed while pushing through the fog, toward personal development and happiness.
I do dive into philosophy and where ideals intersects with humanity. The writing is edgy. I’m surprised and massively thankful they accepted this piece.
My short story is within the “America’s Emerging Literary Fiction Writers: Northeast Region” via the link below.

I have a few things going on. We’re building a house. I have two jobs. I can’t feel my finger tips on my right hand and I met a very nice human working at a book store in North Conway, New Hampshire, who didn’t know who Hemingway, or Steinbeck was. Also, I have a beer next to me and I’ve just cheers’d it because I’ve agreed to a book signing, and more importantly I’ve finally found a publication worth submitting to, again.

My poem ‘Our Self Embrace’ is currently featured on Spillwords. This poem is very important to me. When I read it, I become sad. Unfortunately.
