Poem-

I like my morning.
It’s crisp with a rawness from the approaching storm.
Sleet, ice, some snow and rain
are in the mix for the next 24 hours. So they say.
I watched, as Megan walked Gavin down our driveway
to wait for his bus. If the storm is bad in the afternoon,
we’ll jump in the truck and pick Gavin up at his school.
I like to do that for the bus driver on bad weather days.
We live on the side of a mountain and the road is steep.
Megan has the day off.
I don’t know what we’ll do today, but clearly, I’m already
ignoring ‘work’ and writing about simple things instead.
I like simple things. Maybe we’ll go to the movies, a simple
and random thing to do on a Monday.
And maybe we’ll go for a drive on a dirt road and listen
to the sound of the sleet as it pangs off the windshield.
Maybe I’ll take a photo to share, something rustic and wild.
That’s the thing about being a self taught writer/poet-
It’s All poetry to me. The waiting for the bus, the watching
out the window, noticing a slight breeze, the thinking of what to do,
the enjoyment of the matrix of life. It’s all right there,
in front of me, waiting to be seen.

Utterly Fascinating

Outosego has taken a few words of mine (my poem, Set Sail) and added those words to a video with images. I’ve never seen my work added to visuals and music such as this.

Outosego is a very active, supportive, fellow blogger and a social media artist.

You can check out Outosego’s creativity mixed with my poem here:

M. Taggart : A thought is like a ship

I hope you enjoy this as I did. Cheers!

Matt

(ps- the music kicks in at roughly the 12 second mark.)

Oh, Gavin. This mind of yours.

Am I the only one to find creativity in this? I am the father. I wish to not be blind of that fact. However, I can’t unsee the stance, the distance, the background. The use of ‘people’ which are decorations for a home, just not in this instance. In this instance, a soon-to-be four-year-old positioned his people exactly so.

I had no choice but to take this photo and share with all of you.

Chillingly Beautiful – Western Mass III

Western Massachusetts is a chillingly beautiful region where creativity comes from blood. -M. Taggart.

Sunderland
Sunderland, MA. Autumn is here. Visit Route 47 and enjoy. You’ll find great views, restaurants, and a number of small farms offering apple cider and maple sugar. After graduating from the School of Management at UMass Amherst I enjoyed living in this town for a number of years. Photo credit John Burk.

Turners Cold
This building is located on the bank of the Connecticut River in Turners Falls, MA.  Many children have dared one another to enter any one of the old mill buildings. Some of which are dilapidated and empty.

Gill Bridge
This bridge stands some 80 plus feet above the Connecticut River in Gill, MA. It is truly beautiful. However, for locals, it unfortunately holds a haunting reputation. Sometimes the bodies aren’t found until spring, caught on the banking of an island downstream.

As a ‘hello’ to my friends back home, I had to include another Turners Falls photo. Did any of you make it to this hallway? And I wasn’t joking. Turners is rumored to be the inspiration for the Fallout Four release.

Mind Your Obstacle

A Poem by Emily Dickinson.

The Missing All – Prevented Me
From missing minor Things.
If nothing larger than a World’s
Departure from a Hinge-
Or Sun’s extinction, be observed-
‘Twas not so large that I
Could lift my Forehead from my work
For Curiosity.

Final Harvest, Emily Dickinson. Page 228, (985)

Emily D

I especially enjoy Emily’s use of punctuation as she saw fit.  Fitting her needs of expression.  I don’t ask why she capitalized some and not others in a judgmental manner.  As I was judged recently on a poem I wrote.  No.  I ask why because I’m pushed internally to know more and better learn her state of mind.  Why judge an artist when it’s their creativity that drew your eyes to begin with.

Emily is a master.  She was then also.  It wasn’t Emily’s fault it took decades for understanding to catch up.

Cheers.  Post written by -M. Taggart.

Eyeballs Wonder Within

My blog is about nothing. It was an accident and now I like it. I’m happily happy sitting adrift in my wooden chair.

I’ve created a few categories that help me to remember they exist.

Odd Walking Thoughts:
Easily my favorite. There are no rules. I don’t like rules. I sit. I write. I’ve found I’ve created my own version of poetry and that fits me because I don’t know how to write poetry. Though, I enjoy writing poetry. Here’s a link to the Odd Walking Thoughts poetry that I’ve written. I recommend starting no where near the end and certainly not at the beginning, though I’d preach that it’s worth finding both.

The most important story I’ve written for family is the story about my cousin, Adam. While it’s difficult to get through the first chapter, it has a happy ending. It’s not always easy to read about hurt.

https://mtaggartwriter.wordpress.com/my-book/

Quote. I spell this word wrong nearly every time I type it. Yet, I write them? Most come while sleeping and I don’t think I should claim half of them because of this. I’m not sure why I’m writing this- Yes I am. I very much am sure. It’s because I flip writing styles so often that it may confuse readers as to who I am and what my goal of this blog is. I have no goal. I sit and I write. My goals in life are far stronger than what I feel I need to declare while online. So here is my play pen. It’s messy. It’s fucked up and it’s my only form of creativity.

That’s all I feel like writing. Cheers.
