My poem ‘Rain’ is published on Ephemeral Elegies:

I don’t write about flowers
or love, or the embrace of a lover
because so many
do this so wonderfully
that I would rather read
their version of beauty
than replay mine.
Instead I write about
how rain watches me-

Pain & Renewal-

#1 Bestselling New Poetry Anthology

Pain & Renewal features a collection of incredible voices — from Pulitzer & Pushcart prize winners to brand new poets, it’s filled with moving poetry about the highs and lows of the human experience. From love and loss to death, redemption, and beyond.

“There are as many forms of pain as there are paths to renewal, and I can think of no better way to explore this than through collected stories of people from around the world. In the same way the broader themes of a good book are not conveyed in one line but through many small and dispersed instances, the broader truths of pain and renewal bare their patterns when the struggles and victories of the individual are placed alongside those of the many. Read from cover to cover, I believe many of these patterns can be found in this anthology.” – Brian Geiger (Editor)

May of 2019, Z Publishing House has published my short story called, Only. Just. Here. In their America’s Emerging Horror Writers: East Region. This was a blast to write. Summary: A fun read set in the surrounding mountains of the Moosehead Lake region located in Maine. A young couple recently purchased an old home which is tucked away on the side of a mountain overlooking the large lake. Paranoia sets in while Ben is home alone. He rushes from the old house and drives to the pub at the base of the lake where he’s given a vital piece of information concerning the property they’ve just purchased. His wife, having been delayed, urges him to not return to the house during a quick phone call, but he does, just as the sun is setting. And why- are all the lights on.

As of May 12, 2019 my 5,000 word short story Screaming Hills has been published by Z Publishing House. The first chapter was published by Z Publishing House in 2018. Now an additional six chapters has been published in their America’s Emerging Literary Fiction Writers: Northeast Region. You can purchase the book via the link below.

Summary: Nick, a twenty-something, feels the pressure of having lived his entire life in a tough region with a mixture of run down mills and corn fields. A region in which he’s witnessed violence, depression, anxiety and hopelessness. Nick, along with others, are at the very moment in their lives where either they choose who they are, or life chooses for them. Though he has yet to fully understand his frustration isn’t with the region, but within himself.

From time to time I’ll mention a short story I wrote for my cousin, Adam. He was in a tough situation and the only item left for me to give was to write. And I did. I wrote from the heart. He read the story and loved it.

It’s not perfect and it’s not professionally edited. People seem to enjoy it. It’s raw and I wish you luck getting past the graphic opening chapter. I’m told the ending is worth the effort. I hope you consider reading the amazon reviews and then the story.

An excerpt, Chapter 1

His heart pounded in his chest and his ears rang. He was in hell. He was sure of it. This moment; with this feeling of sickness, and pure hatred for what he felt, was hell. Welcome to hell.

No vomit came from his stomach. No vomit came from his throat and no vomit came from his mouth. His mid-section wretched up and down looking like an October cat in a filthy dance. Up and down his body rose and nothing came out. Yet he smelled his own vomit lingering all about him. Again, he rose up, and again he produced nothing. Beads of sweat were on his forehead and it wasn’t long before they fell onto the surface of the tub. He lurched heavily downward with a massive cough and something came up. Something vile and red landed onto the tub’s floor. Black. He saw nothing but black as he slowly faded and fainted again.

-Below are links to the amazon and Barnes&Noble website pages where you can download the short story.  There’s a dog, mud, a river, and graphic situations such as the above excerpt.

Thanks for visiting this page.  Cheers.

  1. Hmmm. Are elements of this excerpt based on a true account? It is very painful to read for some reason. It reminds me of witnessing my sister’s suffering. I hope your cousin is alright now.

I just read your book. Wow. I loved it. I was going to tell you..that ending! Haha! But I guess I’m not the only one. 🙂
So weird bc on the Amazon fire tablet it shows as 527 pages..And when you turn a page it’s like you read like 6 pages or something. I’m guessing you knew that. I actually hate ereaders but they are sort of a necessity.
I have like questions. Lol. But..maybe one day you will do a full length book??
Either way I loved Adam and the story.

    • I just woke up and read this. That’s amazing!!!! I can’t tell you how happy that made me! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Seriously thank you!! I didn’t know it was listed as that many pages on there. Somehow I messed the page count up on all of the platforms. Sorry about that!

      • Oh No! It says it’s 33 pages. I think it may be a formatting issue. I’ve heard other ppl talk about how hard it is for different devices. I sort of found it amusing once I made sure I wasn’t skipping anything. I don’t actually think it was you at all. I’m sure it is differ on the nook and probably each version of Amazon tablets. This was my first time reading on this smaller, newer one. My older one I lost the charger and so I just bought a new one when they were so cheap at Christmas.
I like my old one I I think lol. Bigger. Seemed more durable. But bright side I found the old box and it had some cord in it so I gave it to my son for my granddaughter. My grandson still has fun with his. Now that tha useless story is out of the wayyy

Haa..of course I read it! Sorry it took me until now. I’ve had it for a while..But it was was really great. Nice to get a longer read than a blog and Matt, it was really good. Novel please. 🙂

      • I’ve got a few more written! On my fourth. Not sure what to do with it all. So far agents seem scared to touch my best one. Too real. Content is incredibly hard to read. Someday, when an agent gets some balls, maybe that one will be picked up. lol I’ll just keep on writing!

      • Hmm..well..I mean I don’t want to give it away to ppl who haven’t read it. I had a few. I really loved the bar scene..def one of my favorites..Neiilll..Haha!
The first chapter. Hmmm..But that left me with questions….lol. of course the ending…But I caught something there too I thought…I mean I could go on but those are the highlights..And the night when Adam sleeps in the garage. …..the relationship with the cousin throughout goes without saying.

      • Lmao! Realize I wrote my first comment without a cigarette or coffee. I reread where you said “on all devices”. Trying to type on this little line is not what I’m best at. As I often say myself..fuck it. :). It’s just the formatting. Have a great morning.

      • I’ll have a great morning, you too! And seriously, so pumped that you read Adam’s story. He’s doing good. He was able to contact me on Thanksgiving. I know he’s tried since then, but it’s hard to know what his number is. No cell..and from where he’s dialing from..isn’t exactly screaming hey it’s me Adam. Gov’t facility.

      • Yeah. I remember your post. I wish him the best. He’s lucky to have you. I know you feel the same.
Don’t worry..you will find an agent with balls. I, for one, can’t wait. Enjoy your family today. See. I remember everyone else’s posts. 😉

      • Not surprised that you remember! And thank you…I do hope to find someone who is strong enough to stand by what I’ve written. I wrote it with impact. Every chapter, but it’s shocking. And shame on me- I haven’t sent it out in a while. A lot has happened.
