Loved this! So much possibility here, so many ways to go with this poem, concocted of oddities that somehow fit together, and feel comforting 🙂 Loved “The brushes and combs were dead while everything else looked on.” This little gem has me smiling. Isn’t it interesting how certain things speak to us 🙂

It is interesting. I think it’s a welcoming thought to think a reader may take away something from a piece that has nothing to do with the author’s mindset and that is absolutely OK and good.

I think that is something that makes poetry so very special. Each reader can attach his/her own meaning. I typically simply start writing, and finish a poem with no theme/meaning in mind. When done, often I assign a meaning, but the interesting thing is; If I eventually read the poem again, the meaning I attach may be different – although knowing what I originally meant the poem to be about. I wonder if other poets do this, or am I just strange? Hmmm.

Thanks for the link, yes, agree with your post and the replies. I personally love to know the poets meaning behind the poem sometimes. It doesn’t take away from the meaning that I attach. I realize that I may be the odd one for feeling this way though. But I find it adds a special element to know the actual meaning behind the piece.
