I ask this-
listen to the wind
watch your child
believe learning can make change
think color of skin is the same
I put one word in front of the other-
I try and listen, not to the bubbling-
If it’s possible – think well
to your health
to your mind
to your self
M. Taggart
I love the end of your first stanza here about believing that learning can make change, because in many respects (although obviously, not all), our capacity to teach/influence others, especially in the case of children, can really determine how someone views the world. It’s a powerful (if somewhat scary) idea, not just for innate racism or prejudice, but also for things like gender equality, body image and concepts of self-worth.
